En collaboration, cet ensemble d’œuvres est né de 2 artistes :

ALEX FACE et MARDI. Puisant dans son imagination et ses références, MXRNIES (prononcé MARDI) a créé des sculptures en céramique inspirées de sa propre interprétation de la diversité sociale de l’île de La Réunion, un premier regard posé comme préambule à sa future venue.

ALEX FACE, quant à lui, revisite l’île en puisant dans sa mémoire. Il réassemble les paysages réunionnais depuis un regard rétrospectif et crée un dialogue avec MARDI, sa fille, en intégrant ses céramiques dans une peinture réinventée.

Dans ces œuvres, les éléments en céramique se dispersent à travers le paysage, telles des figures sculpturales flottant dans un espace métaphysique. Ce sont les marqueurs d’une conversation entre le familier et l’étrange, entre père et fille, entre mémoire et imagination, et entre les possibles qui s’ouvrent sans limite perceptible.

In collaboration, this set of artworks is born from two artists

ALEX FACE and MARDI. Pulling from her imagination and knowledge, MXRNIES created ceramic sculptures from her interpretation and perception of the social diversity on reunion island as a pretext to her future visit.

ALEX FACE instead works with the past, reconstructing the Reunion landscape from memory. He revisits the island in retrospect through a visual experience while creating a conversation with MXRNIES, his daughter, by taking her ceramics and incorporating them into a reimagined painting.

Within the paintings, the ceramic pieces scattered throughout the landscape are like sculptural figures floating in a metaphysical plane. Acting in essence as a representation of a conversation between the familiarity and estrange between father and daughter, between memories and imagination, and between the path of possibility that stretches on without a perceptible end.
